Eisenhower Ninth Grade School was lucky enough to be selected as one of seven schools in the Acres Homes area to receive a free Monarch Waystation and Community Garden courtesy of the NEO Project.
These gardens will consist of several raised garden beds, trellises, and arbors. Our students have been given the opportunity to help plant and design the garden as well as help build some parts.
We are grateful that we were given this opportunity, and our Student Leadership Team was on board to immediately begin helping. They had previously brought a proposal to our school leader, Mr. Ross, to build a Monarch Waystation as part of their school improvement campaign.
Last week students filled the new beds with gardening soil, planted pollinator plants, and some winter vegetables. This week we will continue by finishing our trellises and planting our winter vegetables.
We are excited to share our continuing progress with you.
