February 7, 2020 Aldine ISD hosted the Regional History Day at Aldine’s AEC building. Ike 9 had two students competing Tahamid Bhuiyan and John Duong. Tahamid’s project was titled “Breaking the Massive Barrier of Poverty with the Smallest of Loans” and focused on Muhammad Yunis who revolutionized the practice of microloans. John’s project was titled “Marcel Duchamps Fights Against the Tyranny of Taste” and focused on the way Duchamp’s Fountain changed the way people looked at art.
Tahamid won first place in the Individual Exhibit category, and will be moving on to compete at the state level competition in Austin in April. John’s project won honorable mention. We were very proud of both boys, and of our four former students, who are now at Eisenhower Senior, who will be joining Tahamid at the state competition.
